this is it?

Now I'm getting sad. Tomorrow is Friday. Then, the weekend. Then Monday, it's back to the school grind. My week off went by pretty quickly. The next quarter will be difficult. Lots to LEARN. Four challenging courses, two of which will be continued into the 3rd quarter. I'm sure it can be done, as many people have done it before. I realize there will be more losses.

Our class started with 76 students. We had about 9 students repeating one or more classes from before. This 2nd quarter, there are 68 original students. It looks like we lost 10%. There are 78 students in Women's Health, none of which are new only to that and not the others. There are 6 students that stayed from last quarter, and it appears 4 that are joining us for those three courses. Why do I care? I don't know. I see that Women's Health had no solo repeats, so it is probably the "easiest" course, there are 3 additional in Adult 1 and 2 in Mental Health. And, of course, my lists could be all wrong.

Our clinicals next quarter are in groups. My group is 6 students, all of whom I spent time with last quarter, so no strangers. I have Thursdays off, but clinicals on Saturdays. I really hope that next quarter I can have the Saturday off.

Geez, a huge post and I forgot to mention next quarters' schedule. Clinicals only start next Wednesday. I don't know what time, but I know where!

Monday and Tuesday are classes from 8-4:20 with an hour lunch break. Same schedule both days.

Wednesday I have a Mental Health clinical. Good thing, I'll probably need a mental health day after Monday and Tuesday's classes!

Thursday I have OFF OFF OFF.. Relaxy Thursday. Hell, I may even be able to go out to kiddy night on Wednesdays (though, I still have the problem of getting home after hours.. Bah!)

Friday, I have "Adult I". I'm not really sure what is involved in that course - I think IV fluids and "med-surg". Big mysteries to me - but I have the Med-surg textbook. So, i could unwrap it and have a looksie.

Saturday, Women's Health. So, there will be babies delivered. I wonder how busy Saturdays are. I know women have babies every day. Saturday may be the ones that came after 12 hours of labor after a strenuous work week?

So, "weekend" things are out this quarter. I just don't want Saturday clinicals in the Fall. I really want to be able to do the full MS City to Shore thing (Join or Donate! http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/shyrie ) without taking a "sick" day from clinical (that I'll have to make up during the week after finals), or a Second one - which would cost $400 - if I get sick earlier that quarter.

Today was such a nice day. The weather was cool, the sky was mostly overcast (no evil bright sun!). Aaron and I went to Six Flags and rode on lots and lots of rides. It was a little too cool, but I'll take it compared to a little too warm. We got 6-pack tickets, so we can go 5 more times!! I hope to go at least once more. The summer has only just begun.

While there, I managed to stub my right ring finger. It hurt when I did it. I got it to bend and nothing seemed sensitive to squeezing, so I assume no breaks. I debated going to the first aid station (and it really wasn't far from where I was), but decided against it. Now it's a little swollen, and a bruise seems to be forming in the knuckle. I'm sure I'll survive.

I've been trying to diet. It has been about 4 weeks. I "cheated" on the third day during a bbq that I brought no food to (gave up entirely), the last day of classes (Friday) where I ate proportional and today at Six Flags because I just dont' think there were any "on plan" foods (no added salt, sugar, fat). Even the sushi had some forbidden avocado (I could have picked it out) and probably adds sugar to the rice. For chinese, I looked for the least greasy food I could get (black pepper chicken), "steamed" vegetables (with a bit of oil) and white rice. So, overall, I could have done a lot worse. No ice cream for me (despite wearing the Ben and Jerry's t-shirt). No extra snacks.

The diet is frustrating me overall, though. I've been on it for nearly 4 weeks, lost about 10 lbs the first 2 weeks, and nothing since. I think I'm eating about 1200 calories, and not losing weight! I'll try to give it another week or so, but I may try to add some extra calories in. I wonder if I am starving myself, since some days I feel HUNGRY even though I ate every 2.5-3 hours. I figure I'll gain some tomorrow due to water. But, maybe I'll break the weight hold by Friday. I'm only a few pounds from being out of the "obese" range. And I can fit into some of my other clothes, my belly isn't horribly noticible now, and my double chin is fading. I should stick with the diet since it really isn't that bad. Just a little pain. Not a huge one.
